In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
(Arabic prayer)
You are very welcome, dear brethren and sisters, who have taken the trouble and come [here] from different provinces of the country [and] from long distances, and today, have made our Hosseiniyeh (religious place of worship) fragrant with the scent of the name of martyrs and the memory of martyrs and [with your] revolutionary spirit. I also thank these dear brethren, who both sang an anthem and performed group recitation of the Quran. Of course, there was some noise in the meeting and the very beautiful recitation [of the Quran] by these dear brethren was not heard by some [participants]; [and] you lost [this opportunity], but I listened with care and took advantage [of it]. The honorable verses of the Quran and the words of the Quran, when recited and read out at any place [and] at any time, are cause of spirituality and spiritualism and blessing, especially these verses, which these dear brethren had chosen, which were the verses of Chapter Ahzab (Coalition) and showed the clear and direct line of the Islamic Ummah at times of difficulty, [and when] faced with hardships of time, [and which] shed light on the [Islamic] Ummah’s path. They clarify that if the Islamic Ummah faces problems at any juncture, [and] at any period [of time] – including the same problems, which have been enumerated in these verses – what the solution is. [The Quran says:] “Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah.” When the pact with God and the treaty that faithful hearts have signed with God is honest, all works will go on smoothly; [and] all problems will be solved. Of course, there are obstacles in [human] life, [and] there are problems, [because] there is no paved road in front of any nation; [therefore,] they must pave the way with their own will, [and] with their own perseverance and move toward their goals. Those nations who reached the climax of spirituality and civilization and welfare and happiness, moved in this way. These verses [of the Quran] teach such things [to us].
Well, the [lunar] month of Dhu'l-Qi'dah, which will arrive shortly, is the first among haram (forbidden) months [during which war is forbidden among Muslims]. A forbidden month means a month for [showing] respect [for each other]; that is, those months, which from the viewpoint of the Lord of the World [as He has said in the Quran] “of [twelve months in a year] these, four [months] are haram.” The Almighty God has made four months more respected that other months, with specific rules [which show] from what things and what issues this respect stems from. Muslims must also learn a lesson from this divine teaching. A haram month – which is a divinely respected month, as put by the great mystic, the late Hajj Mirza Ali Aqa Qazi (May the Almighty God’s Mercy Be upon Him) – is [among those] months in which Muslims must prepare themselves to enter sensitive and important arenas of life through more attention to the Almighty God and [doing] more [acts of] worship. What is currently important for the Iranian nation – this great and proud nation – is that it would [continue to] go ahead and move forward on this honorable path, which it has taken, with [great] strength, with speed, with dignity, [and] with its head held high.
Out today’s meeting is a special meeting, that is, [various] groups of our dear people have come and gathered from four corners of the country [and] from a number of provinces. From southeast of the country to northwest of the country, various ethnic groups [such as] Fars, Turk, Kurd, and Baluch are present in our meeting today. This has [a special] meaning [and] its meaning is that a united Iran is made up of different and various ethnic groups, which follow the same goal and tread the same path. Yes, [their] languages may be different, [and] religions may be different, but lofty goals of this nation are alike [for all ethnic groups]. Everybody wants to introduce the dear Iran as the model of an Islamic country to the world. A model Islamic county does not mean that in this country all people are only doing [such religious obligations as] prayers and fasting and praying and recourse [to Infallible Imams]; no, all these issues exist [because] these are [promoters of] spirituality, but in parallel to this spirituality, there is [also] material progress, there is scientific growth, there is promotion of justice, there is reduction of class divides, [and] there is removal of examples and peaks of aristocracy, [because] these are characteristics of an Islamic society. Then in such a society, people are happy, feel secure, feel calm, move toward their lofty goals, worship God as well, [and] obtain worldly progress as well. The Iranian nation seeks to materialize such a society, everybody wants this, [and there is] no difference between Shia and Sunni, [or] Kurd and Baluch and Fars and Turk [in this regard, [because] everybody pursues this [goal]. Well, this will turn into a model, [and] when it turns into a model, when a model is created, then other Muslim nations will [also] find the way.
At present, our problem is that the global arrogance and colonialism considered it more expedient for themselves since a couple of centuries ago to sow discord among Muslim nations. They considered this expedient, why? Because in this case, they could plunder the riches of these [Muslim countries], deprive them of advances, which were their right, [and] exploit them. As a result of the science they had obtained and the technology they had achieved and the weapons they had made, global powers made this their goal and, unfortunately, they were greatly successful as well. This is why from the outset of the [Islamic] Revolution up to the present day, we have extended our friendship hand toward Muslim nations and toward Muslim governments, [and] have invited them to unity, to being united, [and] to steadfastness in the face of the enemy’s plots.
When the Iranian nation could reach the point where it would be able to present itself to the world as a Muslim nation in the real sense of the word, this would be the biggest publicity for Islam. [As a result of this,] other nations would shift this way and the formation of the great Islamic Ummah, which is a cause for dignity and a cause for promotion of Islam in the world, would take place. That Islamic civilization, which we expect to be able to overcome the materialistic, misguiding and corrupt civilization of West, would be realized on that day. [However,] the first step is here, [and] the first step is that we, the Iranian nation, would be able to move toward turning into a role model. Well, everybody must persevere, both the officials must persevere and all [Iranian] people must persevere.
This issue is not an issue for one year or two years, [but] it is a long-term issue; it takes time; just in the same way that [if] you look at the [history of] the Islamic civilization, you would see that the acme of the Islamic civilization was achieved during the fourth and fifth centuries [after Hegira], when it is superior [to other civilizations] in scientific terms and great scholars, researchers, philosophers, [and even] materialistic scientists came into being in the Muslim world, which managed to help the world progress, and many of these current advances of the Western countries are owed to that [scientific] movement. Well, today, of course, our speed will be higher, [and], God willing, we would reach that result more rapidly, but it takes time after all.
During these 37, [or] 38 years that have passed since the beginning of the revolution, we have progressed well. Really, if somebody looks [at our advances] through a fair approach, [they would see that] the dependent, backward, [and] unknown Iran [of the past], which was under full control of America and Britain, has currently changed in such a way that America and Britain and other [countries] form a front in order to perhaps be able to somehow confiscate the existing potentialities of the Islamic Republic in the region, and they cannot [do this]. I mean, the Islamic dignity and the dignity of the Islamic establishment and the Islamic Iran has expanded in such a way that [even] those who looked down on nations, including on the Iranian nation – for example, in the period of tyrannical rule (of Iran’s former monarchial regime) – now have to face it like a powerful competitor.
This is general progress of the nation. We [have] progressed in the field of science, progressed in politics, [and] progressed in various issues considered [as important] from the viewpoint of Islam. From the standpoint of social justice, today, we are also totally different from the past. Of course, we are [still] very far from that [ideal] Islamic justice, [and] are very far from the desirable justice. Today, unfortunately, the signs of aristocracy and luxuries and some [other] different deviations are not a few in our society, but when we compare them with [the situation that existed] before the revolution – now, you young people have not seen [the situation that existed] before the revolution, [but] I and those who have seen the period before the revolution – [we know that] the progress of the Iranian nation and the Islamic country compared with that time is very prominent.
Well, now, [if] we want to reach that model point, what is the way [to get there]? What I want to briefly explain [in this regard] is that the way [to reach that point] is to rely on internal possibilities and potentialities and capacities of this nation. We have many capacities. This nation has many untapped capacities. [The fact] that in our [development] plan policies, we have aimed at an eight-percent [economic] growth [rate] and said that the country must achieve an eight-percent [growth] during the [economic development] plan, is because of countless capacities that exist within the country. At the beginning [of the implementation of the development plan] some people said that [achieving] an eight-percent growth with regard to economic issues is not possible. Then officials themselves told me that ‘no, this [growth figure] that you wrote is correct’. [Therefore, achieving] an eight-percent growth [figure] is possible, but it needs [hard] work, needs correct policy, [and] needs a correct planned strategy. It cannot [be achieved] through laziness and idleness and trust in others; [we] must go ahead with [correct] planning.
This is due to the country’s capacity; the country’s capacity is very high. Out of our population of about 80 million, more than 30 percent of this population is between 20 years and 35 years old; I mean, they are at [their] prime of youth. Being young is the symbol of movement, [and] is symbol of vibrancy. We have all these young people in the country; out of [all] these young people, millions are educated and literate and specialized and innovative. Our infrastructural facilities during these [past] 37 years, [have been] very abundant facilities. In various fields, we have created extraordinarily effective and efficient infrastructure in the country – when I say ‘we’ I mean the country’s officials have created [this infrastructure], I am not too important in this regard – [and now] everything is ready to move [ahead and] to progress.
Well, this progress, thank God, has taken place. You compare [the situation that exists] 30 years after the Islamic Revolution with [the situation of] some countries during [these] 30 years, well I do not want to mention their names. They lived under the influence of America for 30 years, [and] even received cash from America, that is, they received a given sum [of money] – hundreds of millions or billions of dollars – from America, [but] what was the result? After 30 years, they published statistics [and] it became clear that there are two million homeless people who dwell the cemetery in their capital city [alone]. This is the [final] result of the influence of America on a country and domination of America over a country. Well, therefore, the important point is to rely on [our own] domestic capacity.
The enemies sometimes create obstacles. Yes, it is wise for one to go and remove these obstacles with foresight, but the enemy cannot be trusted. One example is these very nuclear negotiations and [the conclusion of] the JCPOA (Iran’s nuclear deal with the P5+1 group of countries), which today, [even] officials of our own diplomatic apparatus and those people who were present in these negotiations from the beginning to the end, these very people are saying that America has breached its promise. Beneath the calm countenance and silver tongue of its officials and its foreign minister and others, America is undermining [the nuclear agreement] behind [the scenes], [and] is preventing [expansion of] economic relations of [our] country with other countries in the world. This [point] is being said by officials [in charge of the implementation of] the JCPOA themselves.
This is, of course, what I have been repeatedly saying since one year, and one and a half years ago that Americans cannot be trusted – [and] it was difficult for some [people] to accept this – but today our officials themselves [are saying this]. This very past week, our esteemed negotiating officials had a meeting with their counterparts in Europe. Our officials told them this and they had no answer [to give]. They said [to European officials that] you have breached your promise, did this violation [of the JCPOA], did not take this step which you should have taken, [and] undermined [the nuclear agreement] behind [the scenes] in this way, [and] they had no answer to give. Six months have passed since the signing of the JCPOA, [but] no evident and tangible effect has been seen with regard to the livelihood state of [the Iranian] people, [while] well, the JCPOA was basically meant to do away with sanctions, [and] it was [meant] to get unjust sanctions lifted. Isn’t it so?
Well, [sanctions] have not been removed, [and] now they say that gradually [and] step by step, it is getting right! Did our discussion [during nuclear talks] was about [a] step by step [process]? At that time, officials said both to me and to people that in these negotiations, it had been decided that when Iran fulfills all its commitments, all sanctions would be lifted at once; that is, this obstacle that America had created in an unjust and evil manner on the way of the Iranian nation would be removed. Well, now, six months have passed since that time, [and sanctions] have not been removed. [Do you think] six months is a short time for a country with [a population of] eighty million? How much work could our esteemed administration have done in these six months if it were not for this wickedness of Americans?
This JCPOA turned into an example, [and] an experience for us. In a public address last year – it was a year ago or one year and a half years ago, I don’t recall its date precisely – I said that the JCPOA and these nuclear negotiations will become an example for us; [let’s] see what Americans will do. These [American officials], who now use a silver tongue, [and] sometimes [even] write a letter, [in which they] express their friendship, [and] express their companionship [with Iran], [and] when they sit in consultation and negotiation sessions talk to Iranian officials with a convincing language, very well, let’s see what they will do in practice. Now, it has become clear what they do in practice! They apparently give promises, [and] talk with a convincing language, but they conspire in practice, undermine [the nuclear deal], [and] prevent any progress from being made [in implementation of the JCPOA]. This is [the real face of] America; [and] this turned into an experience [for us]. Now Americans say let’s talk about regional issues with you! Well, this experience tells us that this would be a lethal poison for us.
This experience showed us that we cannot sit down and talk [with America] like a trusted [negotiating] party with regard to any issue. You may sometimes talk to the enemy, but an enemy, who abides by what he says and one and you can trust that for any reason he would not breach his word and renege on his commitments. Yes, you can talk with such an enemy. However, when it is proven that the enemy is a treacherous enemy, is an enemy who in practice is not afraid of breaching any promise and breaches its promise, [and] then when we say ‘Mr., why did you [breach] your promise’, he keeps smiling, once more uses a silver tongue and justifies [the breach of his promise] one way or another, you cannot enter into negotiation with such [an enemy]. This is the reason that I have been repeating for years that we do not negotiate with America. This shows that our [problems] with regard to this issue, with regard to issues related to the region, with regard to various issues that we face, [and] with regard to problems that we have with America and the likes of America will not be solved through negotiation. We must choose a way of our own, [and] go that way. Let the enemy try to catch up with you, [and I emphasize,] let the enemy try to catch up with you.
Our political and diplomatic officials clearly say that Americans want to take everything [from us, but] don’t give anything [in return]! [If] you take one step back, they will take one step forward. [The fact] that I keep saying that we don’t negotiate [with America, but] some people say there is no problem with negotiation, this is the problem with negotiation: [the enemy] deviates you from your correct path [through negotiation, because it] takes concession from you – when you negotiate, it means that you [must] give a concession, [and] take a concession after all; this is the meaning of negotiation after all; negotiation is not [simply] sitting [around a table] and socializing and talking and conversing and laughing and joking, [but] negotiation means give something [and] take something [in return] – and [the enemy] takes from you what you must give, [but] does not give you what it must give you. [In addition, the enemy] bullies [you]; well, this is the meaning of [being an] arrogant [power], [and] global arrogance means this, that is, bullying [other countries], considering oneself as superior [to others], do not abiding by one’s words, [and] not considering oneself committed [to any promises]; this is the meaning of arrogance, [because] it reneges on its promises.
Well, our honorable Imam [Khomeini] said: “America is the Great Satan;” this interpretation [of America] is really an extraordinary interpretation. The Almighty God quotes Satan as saying [in the Quran] that on the Day of Resurrection, Satan tells those who have followed him that “indeed, Allah promised you the promise of truth, and I promised you, but I betrayed you.” Satan tells his followers that ‘God had given an honest [and] true promise to you, but you did not follow the God’s promise [and] did not remain committed [to it]; [however,] I gave a false promise to you, [and] you followed me! I breached my promise, [because] I gave you a promise and breached it’. Satan scolds his followers in this way on the Day of Resurrection. Then the Almighty God quotes Satan as telling them that ‘so, do not blame me and blame yourselves’; [he says] ‘do not blame me, but blame yourselves’. Today, this exactly corresponds to [behavior of] America. Now, Satan says this on the Day of Resurrection, [but] Americans are currently saying this in the world; they give a promise, [but] do not act upon it, [and] breach it. They take ready concessions, [but] give concessions on credit; this is how America works. Well, so, others must not be trusted.
These remarks, which are made about large-scale issues of the country and macro policies of the country, our dear youths [must] sit down and think about them; [because] these [remarks] stem from experience, stem from knowing the enemy and knowing the [existing] situation. These are not impromptu remarks when one would say something so that another one would give an answer on the opposite side “that no this is not true.” No, [our] dear youths [must pay attention to] these [remarks]. Fortunately, we have so many intelligent and talented youths in this country; they must sit down and analyze [these remarks], then the [correct] way would become clear.
What is the way? The way [is] what I said: reliance on internal talent, reliance on internal capacities of the country, reliance on these very youths, [and] reliance on the initiative taken by the young people, the work that they pursue, the knowledge that they acquire, [and] the acquired knowledge, which they turn into technology. Our capacities are numerous. Statistics [show that] – of course, these statistics belong to a few years ago – that we have several hundred thousand small production units; [and] this is very important! I have frequently repeated in my speeches that with regard to economic issues, dear officials of the country [must] pay attention to small-sized and medium-sized production units. We have several hundred thousand of such units in the country. [Officials must] revive these [units,] [because by doing this new] jobs are created, [and] initiative is created.
I emphasize on knowledge-based economy, [I mean,] these important works, which now, of course fortunately, have been underway in the country for a number of years, but must develop [further]. [I] emphasize on domestic production. I have put so much emphasis on consumption of domestic products. I also tell you now, [and] tell dear people in our country to opt for consumption of domestic production, [and in doing so] promote the Iranian laborer, [and] promote the Iranian work. Unfortunately, the reality of this case is not like this. In different sectors – assume that with regard to home appliances – domestic factories are working, they produce commodities of high-quality and good and equal to foreign commodity, [and] sometimes [eve] better than foreign commodity, but when you go to the market, you see it is entirely [conquered by] foreign commodity; why? Where do these [foreign commodities] come from? This is why I emphasize on [the necessity of] preventing importation of those products, which have domestic counterparts; this is the [correct] way.
[With regard to the issue of] smuggling, I have told officials that “Sir! When you find that given smuggling gang and bring that large-scale smuggling consignment, which weighs several thousand tonnes, into the country, you burn this consignment in front of everybody’s eyes, [and in doing this] deal [a drastic] blow to smuggler, [and] to that [smuggled] commodity, which has domestic counterpart. Well, it is clear that when foreign commodity enters [the country] – whether through legal points of entry such as the customs and the likes of these, or through smuggling, which unfortunately, [its volume] is very high – the domestic production will become stagnant. When domestic production becomes stagnant, the result will be this situation that we see today: our youths lose [their] jobs, our employment [rate] decreases, stagnation prevails in the country, [and] people’s life and livelihood become difficult. After all, these [problems] cannot be solved through [establishment of] relations with America and Europe, [because] we must solve these [problems] ourselves. These are works we must do ourselves; [and] this is the [correct] way.
The country has numerous capacities, [and] it has great [capacity] for [taking new] initiative. This 80-million-strong country – and of course, its population can hit 150 million as well and, God willing, as I have frequently repeated, officials would help that this burgeoning of the young population, which fortunately exists today, would not stop; [officials] must not stop reproduction, [and] do not cause the country’s population to gradually become senescent over years - this population, [and] this country with this [high] capacity, [and] with these four-season potentialities, which our country has, can progress in material terms, [so that] people’s livelihood problems would be solved; this is the [correct] way.
I think a lot about people’s livelihood problems, [and] I am very concerned about the issue of people’s livelihood, but the more I think, [and] the more I consult with experts and pundits and informed people, [the more] I see there is no way unless we put categorical emphasis on domestic issues. [What is the use of] foreign businesspeople [merely] coming and going without doing anything of substance – which they have not done [anything important] yet? Now, it has been about a year that [they] continuously come and go, [and] have done nothing. [Even] if they want to do something, it is to conquer the Iranian market, which is exactly to our detriment. The benefit of exchange of these delegations must be investment, must be new production, must be [transfer] of new technology in those places where we need new technology, [and] must be things like this; [but at present,] these [benefits] do not exist or [if they exist, they] are insignificant. Esteemed officials must observe [and] follow up on these issues. [This is the reason] that I said [we need] practical steps and action [to progress]; of course, [officials] are currently taking steps, [but] God willing, the result of their work must be tangible, [and] be palpable, so that, people would feel and sense [the result of their work]; this is the [correct] way.
Now, of course, with regard to cultural issues and spiritual issues, there are many things to say, [but] I don’t want to focus on them [here], [and] don’t want to discuss them; [because] they must be discussed in their own place. [In this meeting, our] discussion is about economic issues and livelihood issues and [other issues like] these. If we want people’s livelihood to be improved, [if we want to solve] the problems that [people] have, [and solve problems facing various] classes [of people] which exist [right now], we must pay attention to these measures.
One of the most important issues [in this regard] is to prevent domestic corruption. This step, which has been brought up [recently] and has been said, and officials, thank God, clearly announced that they will block these corruptions and these excessive demands and excessive exploitation [of public resources] and [payment of] these exorbitant salaries – and thank God this [has] happened in some places; [and] in some sectors and organizations, which have reported to me, this measure has been realized [and] been taken – [this step] must become prevalent, must be pursued, [and] this step must not be given up, [because] corruption must be stopped.
Aristocratic lifestyle must be prevented, [because] aristocratic lifestyle is a scourge for the country. When aristocratic lifestyle comes into being at the peaks [of wealth] in the society, it would spill over into the [main] body [of the society], [and then] you would see that a given family that is not in a good state in terms of livelihood, when they want to marry off they son or their daughter, or assume [when they want to] hold a party, they would have to do this in an aristocratic manner. When aristocratic lifestyle becomes a culture, this would be the result. [Therefore, promotion of] aristocratic lifestyle must be prevented. The deeds of officials, the words of officials, [and] what they teach [other people] must be against this direction of aristocratic lifestyle; because this is what Islam wants.
This [much that I said] is about issues of the country, and these are my viewpoints. As for the economic issues, the viewpoints that I have, which I have constantly told these [views] both to people, and to officials, are these. I say [we must] rely on ourselves, [and] identify our force. [At the present time,] the ailments of the country are known, [and] the treatment is also known, [so, let’s] make plan for this treatment and go ahead.
[There is a lot to say with regard to] regional issues. Today, the region is also a tumultuous region, [and] when we look [at what is going on] here, [we see that] America is involved once again. Yes, [the fact] that the Saudi government would openly try to woo the Zionist regime and bring its exchanges [with Israeli regime] into the open, is a stab in the back of the Islamic Ummah. There is no doubt that this step that Saudis have taken – [I mean,] having open contacts with the Zionist regime – this is really a stab which has been put in the back of the Islamic Ummah; [they have] committed a big treachery, [and] they are sinners, but [even] here, America is involved again. The Saudi government has committed this big mistake because it follows America, because it is possessed by America, [and] because it listens to [what] America [tells it to do]; [so, even] here, America is once more involved.
Or if you see that Yemen is being bombarded for about one and a half years, is this a joke? [It is no joke] that they come and continuously bombard a country, [and] that not its military centers, [but] markets, hospitals, people’s homes, [people’s] gatherings, squares, [and] schools! This is no small matter, [but] this is a big crime. They neither understand [respect for] the [fasting] month of Ramadan, nor [the meaning] of a forbidden month, nor care about children, [and] kill so many children; well this is a big crime, which the Saudi government, unfortunately, has committed this crime. However, [even] this is also [being done] with support of America, with green light from America, with American airplane, [and] with weapons and ammunition which have been imported from America. They are [the ones] who provide [Saudi Arabia] with all facilities. Even when the United Nations wants to say anything in this regard – now once in a blue moon, [the UN] wants to say a right word and condemn [Saudi crimes] – they muzzle its mouth with money, with threat, [and] with pressure. This wretched, [and] disgraced secretary general of the United Nations confessed and said that ‘they have put pressure on me!’ Well, [if] they [have] put pressure [on you], [and] if you cannot do [your job], step down! Why you continue [in your post] and betray [the entire] humanity? This is betrayal of humanity. [And once again] America is involved here.
In the case of Bahrain, when a foreign army comes from a country into Bahrain in order to put pressure on the people of Bahrain, here once again [what is taking place] is with the green light from America. Well, now the Saudi government is a government which is being run by [a bunch of] kids, really unwise kids, [and] is in their hands, but what one would understand through analysis of issues, [and] through observation of issues, is really this [truth] that this is [due to] the influence of America [and] support of America.
These Takfiri groups [are] also like this. Now, they claim that they have formed a coalition against Takfiri groups – of course, [even] now they are not doing anything serious against them; [and] in some cases even according to reports, which have been given to me, are helping them [as well] – but creation of these groups once again goes back to America, and some American officials have owned up to this fact; [they have] owned up and said ‘we helped Daesh’ to come and both sow discord in the Islamic Ummah, and promote the Umayyad and Marwanid Islam. This Wahhabi and Takfiri Islam is the same Umayyad Islam, is the Marwanid Islam, [and] is an Islam, which is poles apart from the true Islam; [and in doing this] they have brought disgrace to Islam. Of course, [the scourge of terrorism] has now plagued themselves as well. There is a Persian proverb which says “who sows wind will harvest storm.” Now, by and by, they are harvesting storm. But it is their own fault and it was them who did this.
It [is] the same with regard to other cases as well. Americans claim that they want to solve the region’s problems, but in fact, it is quite the contrary, [because] they themselves are creator of problems or intensifier of these problems; [and] they prevent problems from being solved. [If] it was left to regional nations themselves, they would [be able to] solve problems. We once again invite Islamic governments, [and invite] these Arab states which are around us, [and tell them that] these [governments] must know that America is not worthy of trust, [because] America looks upon these [governments] as tools, [and regards them as] tools to protect the Zionist regime and protect the arrogant disposition and interests of America itself in the region. In fact, America does not like these [governments] at all, [but] it takes advantage of their money, [and uses] their force to achieve its goals in order to create a wall [to] protect the Zionist regime and [at the same time,] maintain and protect its own arrogant goals in the region. This is what these [Americans] are doing.
With regard to regional issues, in my opinion, the solution is unity among Muslim nations, unity among Muslim governments and steadfastness against goals of the [global] arrogance, and goals of America and some European countries. Some European governments also discredited themselves for following suit with America and disgraced themselves in the eyes of regional people. Well, some of the European governments were somehow respectable even in the eyes of our people – the people of Iran – but they dishonored themselves through following suit with America. Their goals [must] be known and [any necessary] move must be made to oppose their goals. [Regional] nations can [do this] and our nation, of course, is [also] standing [against them].
Let me also tell you this: despite all these facts and despite all these details, America is getting weaker in the region on a daily basis. Its plans have been revealed and it is clear what it wants to do: [I mean,] it wants to interfere in different countries. It is not like that it is only hostile to us and is friendly to others; no, you saw [what happened] in the country of Turkey. [Of course,] in my opinion, it has not been proven yet, but there is strong suspicion that this [failed] coup d’état, which took place in Turkey, was [carried out] through America’s plan and [logistic] support. If this is proven, it would be a great scandal for America. Turkey was a country, which had good relations with America and said it is the regional ally of America. [However,] they are not willing to [get along] even with Turkey, because an Islamic tendency exists there. [Americans] are against Islam, [and] are against [any form of] Islamic tendency, [and] this is why they organize even a coup there; of course, it was suppressed, [and coup plotters] were defeated and were despised by the Turkish people. It is the same in other places as well, both in Iraq, and in Syria, and in other different regions, thank God, they are getting weaker on a daily basis.
If we, the Iranian nation, are optimistic about the promise that the Almighty God has given and provide preliminary ground for [the realization of] that promise, [our] problems would be solved.
