Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution met Saturday morning with Kim Yong-nam the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence said that Iran and North Korea have similar positions in many areas and stressed that it is necessary to be serious on the path to one's noble goals and not to let one's determination be undermined by pressures, sanctions and threats.
Ayatollah Khamenei added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran is very determined on the path to its noble goals."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that Iran and North Korea have numerous capacities for expansion of ties and reiterated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran and North Korea have common enemies because the arrogant powers do not tolerate independent governments."
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to his trip to North Korea during his presidency and praised the personality of Kim Il-sung the late leader of North Korea.
In the meeting, Kim Yong-nam conveyed the greetings of North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un and said that Ayatollah Khamenei's trip to North Korea during his presidency was a turning point in Iran-North Korea relations. He stressed that expansion of ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran is a key policy of North Korea.
Kim Yong-nam also praised the Islamic Republic of Iran for its advances in different areas.
