Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution met Saturday morning with the Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj. Speaking at the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the common cultural and historical grounds between Iran and Mongolia, particularly the historical and scientific works from the era of Mongolian reign over Iran, and added that it is necessary to further expand relations between Iran and Mongolia.
His Eminence said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has very good capacities and stressed: "The two countries can have relations in various economic, political, cultural, academic and international areas."
In the meeting, the President of Mongolia said that the common historical and cultural grounds that Iran and Mongolia share will prepare the ground for expansion of ties between the two countries. "Mongolia is very eager to expand its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly in areas relating to economic matters, infrastructure, political matters and student and professor exchange programs."
The President of Mongolia stressed: "We agree with you that the region should be free of nuclear weapons and we believe that peaceful use of nuclear energy is the right of all countries."
