The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has emphasized that unity and resistance will lead to the foiling of enemy conspiracies against Lebanon.
Speaking on Thursday afternoon, in a meeting with the president of Lebanon, Michel Soleiman, the Leader emphasized that Lebanon has a very special status and special importance in the Middle East region. The Leader added: “Some foreign countries want troubles in various regional countries to spill over into Lebanon, but cooperation and unity of all groups and ethnicities in Lebanon, together with Islamic resistance, will effectively scupper (foil) this effort”.
In further remarks, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei described Lebanon as a very important and sensitive country in the middle east region, adding: “Prominent Lebanese politicians and figures have shown their experience, and have resisted attempts to divide them, and bring about rifts, along the lines of religion and ethnicity – instead they have supported the resistance front, and thus they have overcome many difficulties and problems.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei referred to the policy of “national dialogue” in Lebanon as a “correct policy”, adding: “There are those both within and outside of Lebanon who are drawing up sinister plans, but the Lebanese president, prime minister, and speaker of Lebanon’s parliament are doing an excellent job administering the country, and they must keep on working together, with one aim, and preserve their cooperation and synergy.
Turning to Syria, the Leader stressed against any sort of foreign intervention or foreign interference in Syria, and said the only way to solve the Syrian crisis is to stop the flow of arms and ammunition to “irresponsible (insurgent) groups” inside Syria.
For his part, the president of Lebanon, Michel Soleiman, praised the well-organized Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran, and praised Iran’s hosting of this summit, and called for further strengthening and expansion of cooperation between Tehran and Beirut.
President Soleiman expressed hope that during Iran’s presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement positive results are achieved with regards to a raft of issues including the issue of Palestine.
