Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday called for cooperation of the three branches of government.
Islamic Revolution Leader lauded the services of the three branches – Executive, Legislature and the Judiciary - and said that they must patch up differences and work in unison.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with senior officials of the Judiciary on the occasion of the anniversary of a terrorist attack in 1981 against senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran which led to martyrdom of 72 statesmen including the then Judiciary chief Ayatollah Mohammad Beheshti.
Islamic Revolution Leader honored memory of Ayatollah Beheshti and other martyrs of the terrorist attack and said that the Islamic Republic of Iran advocates fair justice to be administered by the Judiciary to eradicate corruption.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that there are capacities available to help upgrade the Judiciary and efforts must be made to achieve the great goal of upholding justice by the Judiciary.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Judiciary needs infrastructure to accurately administer justice including a comprehensive plan with precise and multilateral considerations.
The Leader said that drawing up the comprehensive plan is a major step and it must be put into practice to meet the needs.
“Implementing the comprehensive plan must be accelerated. Of course, it does not mean making haste, but, the plan must be done without delay.”
Elsewhere in his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized the need for accuracy of the verdicts being issued by the courts of justice and said that the verdicts must be well-documented in a way the judge of court would rest assured if other lawyers examine his sentence.
Islamic Revolution Leader said that the verdicts of primary courts are revoked by the appeals courts numerously indicating that the preliminary verdicts are not well-established.
Ayatollah Khamenei called for reducing the number of verdicts which envisage prison terms and recommended the Judiciary to minimize the punishments in the form of prison term, because, prison has adverse consequences on the inmates, their families and the business environment as well.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Judiciary must preserve prestige of the defendants, criticizing the media hype against the defendants.
“The Judiciary must not be influenced by the media propaganda at all.”
On the hostile policies of the western governments against Iran, the Leader said that they are used to tarnishing the image of the Islamic Republic in an attempt to prevent other nations from following Iran's policy of achieving independence and democracy based on Islamic values.
“When a lively democratic election is held in Iran with high turnout, the arrogant powers begin to find fault with it to mislead other Muslim nations.”
Ayatollah Khamenei said that they resorted to human rights and nuclear energy to undermine the standing of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the international community.
“They embark on misleading the world public opinion against the Islamic Republic of Iran in the name of the international community.”
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the arrogant powers have resorted to sanctions to make the Iranian people turn away from the Islamic Republic of Iran, but, God willing they will fail in their new conspiracy, because, they have not really known the depth of relationship between the Iranian nation and government.
Prior to the Islamic Revolution Leader’s remarks, Judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani presented a report on the performance of the Judiciary.
Amoli Larijani said that the Judiciary has focused on two principles recommended by the Islamic Revolution Leader – Authority of the Judiciary and Public Confidence.
He said that the Judiciary has drawn up a comprehensive plan to administer justice, and campaign against corruption and smuggling, adding that the Judiciary has also promoted the Islamic human rights.
