Leader of the Islamic Revolution says publication is an important issue, urging further development in this regard.
“The quality of publication, print run and diversity of subjects of books has been increased during recent years which cannot be compared to previous years,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in an address to top Iranian publishers on Wednesday.
Islamic Revolution Leader added that it is impossible to achieve progress in the country without making development in publication sector and called on Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and state bodies to attach serious importance to publication of books.
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that further efforts and investment would be made in the publication sector to reach an optimal point in this regard.
Ayatollah Khamenei met and talked with various publishers that have participated in the annual event.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad officially opened the 24th Tehran International Book Fair at the Iranian capital's Grand Prayer Grounds on May 4. The fair will be open to public until May 14.
More than 2,300 Iranian and 1,600 international publishers from 67 countries have participated in the event, according to Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Sayyed Mohammad Hosseini.
