Islamic Revolution Leader, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said on Sunday that the most important duty of the young generation and the student movement was to make enthusiastic endeavor based on rationality to carry out justice and progress in the fourth decade of the Islamic Revolution.
Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with a group of university students and elites stressed that the young generation with hope, steady effort and right planning should step in the path of new ideas and reach an Islamic community which makes both material and spiritual progress.
Ayatollah Khamenei termed the Islamic system as young and therefore in need of more works and efforts. "The motto and goal of the fourth decade of the Revolution are progress and justice. All efforts and planning must aim to reach the great goals," the IR Leader said.
Elaboration on what kind of progress was favored by the Islamic system, the IR Leader said," This progress is comprehensive and includes material and spiritual sides. We should make more efforts to enjoy a favorable level of living conditions, occupation, welfare and scientific advance along with justice, high Islamic morality, spirituality and deep faith."
Ayatollah Khamenei warned against any diversion from the path of progress, a case of which emerging in the pre-revolutionary thought that perceived it as progress to follow the Western appearances.
"Another diversion from progress is the idea which though not rejecting the Islamic-Iranian identity it is frustrated about progress," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
"Unfortunately the idea is hailed as realism connoting that a Muslim nation has to follow the west. This idea is against the long human experience because God has not created one group of people as progressive in nature."
Pointing to national scientific advances in recent years, he added "The diverting idea inculcates that the current scientific progress is useless but the active Muslim youths of Iran could achieve a scientific level even higher than the global level."
Answering a question on where to gain the late Imam Khomeini's viewpoints, Ayatollah Khamenei said," You should infer the late Imam's thought through studying his words and ideas."
Ayatollah Khamenei urged for forming special working groups to study and compile the late Imam's thoughts.
Pointing to certain statements in the meeting about the performance of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Ayatollah Khamenei said," The Leader appoints the head of IRIB however it is not a reason not to criticize the IRIB's performance because that was the IRIB's head whom was charged to run the body.
