IRI-Syria achievements at regional,int'l levels remarkable

The Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said on Sunday that the current relationship between Iran and Syria is very consolidated and promising.

The IR Leader made the remarks after receiving visiting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his entourage in Tehran on Sunday.

"Late Hafez al-Assad laid the foundations of strong ties between Iran and Syria that despite various efforts to damage such ties, the friendly relationship between the two countries still continues," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

"You have pursued the path of your late father, and the current good ties is the result of treading the same path," the IR Leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei also described the current relations between Iran and Syria as more consolidated than before, adding that Iran and Syria have made remarkable achievements at regional and international levels.

The IR Leader expressed the hope that the current visit of the Syrian president to Tehran as well as the agreements signed between the two sides would help further bolster all out ties between the two sides.

The Syrian president, for his part, said existing ties between Tehran and Damascus are very consolidated and strategic.

"I am very happy to witness the remarkable achievements and success of Islamic resistance in Lebanon and uplifted status of Hamas movement in Palestine and that our enemies are in a weak situation," he said.

He also called his talks with the IRI's President as very promising and fruitful.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was also present in the meeting.
