People must treasure moments of elections

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei cast vote Friday a few minutes after elections started across I.R. of Iran for the eighth Islamic Consultative Assembly (parliament).

After casting ballot in a box stationed in Imam Khomeini Husseiniyeh center, Ayatollah Khamenei made some statements in which he highlighted the significance of Friday ballot for the next four years of the Iranian affairs and likened the elections period to Laylat-l Qadr, a certain annual night time period when according to the Islamic teachings the fate of human being is determined by God.

"Some days are similar to Laylat-l Qadr in that they prove fateful for human being and society. Today elections too are fateful for a scheduled period of the life of the nation. People must treasure such moments," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei instructed the people to make a timely presence in the ballot stations, adding, "The best of undertakings are those which are carried out on time. The dear Iranian nation would rather make a timely participation in the elections and determine the situation of lawmaking affairs for the next four years."

Ayatollah Khamenei moreover advised people to fulfill their rights in full by choosing the maximum number of nominees allotted to their own constituency and avoid leaving any slot in the ballot sheets vacant.

Ayatollah Khamenei also cast ballot in the by-election of the Leadership Assembly of Experts, held in Tehran Province.

Tens of reporters or photojournalists from the five continents were covering the ballot casting ceremony.
