The world of Islam could turn into a global powerhouse by cementing unity and broadening levels of cooperation in issues of scientific, economic, cultural or political concerns, Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei suggested.
Ayatollah Khamenei raised the idea in a talk with the visiting Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Tuesday where the IR Leader elaborated on a strategic approach which the Islamic Republic of Iran has adopted in its ties with the Islamic countries.
Ayatollah Khamenei reminded the visiting President that the Muslim countries are in possession of an enormous part of wealth, population and lands in the world and that they run many sensitive terrains in the globe.
"The Islamic Republic follows a priority agenda of closer relations with the Islamic countries," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed.
The Islamic Revolution Leader said the US regime follows language of bully in its ties with other countries, alerting that by concession to bully demands of the global arrogance the countries would only help their further backwardness.
Ayatollah Khamenei praised Indonesia for the decision it took regarding the latest Western-brewed resolution in the UN Security Council against the Islamic Iran.
"Decisions of the sort would indeed bring further credit to any nation or government," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei then appreciated the status of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) organization, to which IRI and Indonesia are parties, saying that the movement stands a symbol of independence in the world.
Ayatollah Khamenei expressed hope the NAM could reactivate its original objectives and policies.
The Islamic Revolution Leader then touched on an ongoing joint attempt by the American government and the Zionist regime to annihilate the Palestinian nation, adding that the persevering nation proved it lives a brave life.
"The world of Islam must give backing to the nation," Ayatollah Khamenei urged.
Ayatollah Khamenei then described IRI-Indonesia relations as solid and called on the two parties to put their mutual agreements on stream.
For his part, the Indonesian President touched on the rich Iranian civilization and said that the country welcomes broader ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in different spheres and that it wishes to use the invaluable experiences the Islamic Republic have gained in science.
President Yudhoyono said Indonesia's stance in the UNSC was an already thought-out move, adding that Indonesia pursues a policy of combat against unilateralism and injustice in the world as well as expansion of relations with Muslim countries and members of the Non-Aligned Movement.
President Yudhoyono said his country was on the ready to help put the two countries' mutual agreements on stream.
Meanwhile, IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was attending the meeting.
