The Office of the Supreme Leader

Islamic scholars expected to work out charter of Islamic unity

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei Friday called on Muslim scholars and intellectuals to work out a charter of Islamic unity in the form of a historical demand.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the call to an audience of senior Iranian authorities as well as ambassadors of Islamic countries in Tehran and several invitees to a Conference on Islamic unity in Tehran in which he congratulated Muslims on the auspicious birth anniversary of the noblest messenger of Allah Hazrat Muhammad and the 6th Shii Imam Jafar al-Sadeq peace be upon them.

"In light of the dire need of the Islamic world to unity and that the genuine solution to the problems of Muslims lies in their Islamic unity and harmony, the Muslim Alims and intellectuals are expected to formulate the charter of Islamic unity as a historical claim," Ayatollah Khamenei urged.

The IR Leader viewed happiness of humanity as a tribute to the compassion and blessings of the noblest messenger of Allah and underlined the mankind's need to his teachings to find salvation and pave the ground for justice and sublime humane values.

"The Islamic umma, casting behind years of ignorance, has now developed a new look at the Islamic creed. The world of Islam can afford to take lead of human move towards perfection through so fresh a foresight and appreciation," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei reminded the addresses about the realities of the current world notably the Islamic awakening and a return to Islam, revival of Qoran and creation of a consistent umma.

"These aspirations, for years viewed as a castle in the air and floated only by some of the prominent figures and reformist of the world of Islam, have now turned into a live slogan for the masses, specially young and educated people," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed, noting that the victory of Islam and the perseverance of the Iranian nation in imbuing the Islamic umma with hope had played a key part in the event.

"Parallel to Islamic awakening and rebirth of authentic Islamic slogans, the forces of arrogance have further organized, solidified and multiplied their enmity since the awakening of the world of Islam has posed a large peril to the arrogant powers and the overall global hegemony," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Islamic Revolution Leader described the recent ill-will projects of stirring modern time Crusades, affronting the noble messenger of Allah Hazrat Muhammad PBUH, and faking a ferocious image out of Muslims as a premeditated ploy to challenge the front of Islamic identity.

"One more reality of the current world is that unlike materialistic calculations and media propaganda, the apparently powerful front of arrogance has lost the battle to the great Islamic movement," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei believed that the failed projects of the American-led front of arrogance in the Middle East, especially in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon, well exemplifies the reality, urging those who carry pretensions of re-thinking the tacks to take these undeniable realities into consideration.

Ayatollah Khamenei then renewed call for Islamic harmony as a dire necessity to keep on the profound movement of the Islamic umma towards victory.

"The forces of arrogance seek to incite difference and sectarian conflict between Muslims to counter which unity and harmony among the Islamic umma must be promoted and for the same reason, this (new Iranian) year was called year of national unity and Islamic harmony," the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the chief hindrance to unity comes from ill-advised perceptions, illusive ideas, misunderstanding and unawareness about each other's consistent basics of thinking.

The IR Leader then underscored the role of Islamic governments and Muslim Alims in paving the ground for the materialization for the Islamic unity and harmony, adding given the charter of Islamic unity is not drawn up today, the posterity will take us to task.

Ayatollah Khamenei asserted that the forces of arrogance never bother distinguishing between Shii and Sunni and treat both of them as members of the overall Muslim community.

"While the world of arrogance seeks to dent the face of Muslims and takes the Islamic awakening which has taken place among Shii and Sunni as a threat and subjects it to assault, does reason judges that Muslims engage in sectarian and religious rows and forget their common enemy?"

"Islamic governments must bridge gap between themselves. If they rely on their nations, might and capabilities, they will grow more powerful than once they depend on the American politicians," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

"The Islamic Iran has displayed the experience of struggle against superpowers, reliance on God and dependence on own capabilities so that during the past 28 years (post-revolutionary era) the Iranian nation has grown mightier and more advanced despite every sort of pressure and plot," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
