Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei urged the visiting Pakistani President Perviz Musharraf Monday for utilizing different political and economic potentialities for further broadening of bilateral ties notably in light of ample cultural, historical and religious commonalities between the two nations of Iran and Pakistan.
Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the question of energy as an outstanding problem facing the world of today and tomorrow and touched on the planned gas pipelines which connect Iran to Peninsula.
"Iran is rich in gas reserves. We are at the ready to provide our Muslim brothers, including the Pakistani nation with I.R. of Iran's reserves and facilities," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Kahmenei termed unity and solidarity the dire need of the world of Islam and warned that the enemies of the Islamic Ummah seek to raise their interests through discord among Muslims.
The IR Leader said that the establishment of the occupying regime of Israel was a move by the arrogance front to drive a permanent wedge in the world of Islam. "Israel has so far stood as the key source of division in the Islamic Ummah and will continue to pursue the same line," Ayatollah Kahmenei cautioned.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the Zionist regime finds ground to keep aggressions against the Palestinian innocent people through support of America and Britain, adding that any initiative on the Middle East situation will succeed provided it could stop America's bullying mode in the region and put an end to the Zionists' criminal conduct.
The IR Leader tied the resolution of the Palestinian issue to heeding realities on the ground. "The weak side of the Zionist regime was laid bare in the Lebanon 33-day war. The hate all Muslims keep towards the Zionist regime and America as well as the perseverance of the Palestinian nation and the Hamas government in the face of the Zionists are among the realities that are instrumental to develop a deep understanding of the Palestinian issue and find a solution to it," Ayatollah Khamenei underlined.
Ayatollah Khamenei warned that the enemies of Islam as another point of their agenda are making efforts to sow religious and sectarian discord among the Muslim people.
"The perilous ploy are on the line in Iraq and some other countries. The Islamic nations and countries must nip the outsiders' plot in the bud through unity, unanimity and vigilance," the IR Leader urged.
Ayatollah Khamenei hailed a fair peace as a merit, adding that the power of nations will virtually determine the fate of all these questions. "This power will not only emerge in face-off. It also has different grounds to prove its might," the IR Leader affirmed.
For his part, the Pakistani President said that his visit to Iran was aimed at consolidating mutual ties and studying the conditions of the region as well as the world of Islam.
Musharraf pointed to common historical, cultural and religious grounds between Iran and Pakistan and called for further widening of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Pakistani President expressed delight at an agreement between the two countries over pricing formula of Iran's natural gas. He expressed hope the operation to lay the pipelines (called Peace Pipelines) would commence in the near future.
