Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei Monday told a group of Muslim intellectuals and scholars who were in Iran to participate in an International Conference on Islamic Unity that the world of Islam at present is in dire need of unity.
During the meeting held on the eve of the Mabaath anniversary of the noblest messenger of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad (S), Ayatollah Khamenei honored the auspicious occasion and pointed to the wave of the Islamic awakening and the revival of the Islamic identity.
The I.R. Leader urged sincere scholars, intellectuals, and political leaders of the Islamic countries to grab the matchless opportunity and make the world of Islam note the power of million-strong Muslim population and rely on the immense popular strength in standing against enemy pressures and threats and covering the path of scientific, political, cultural and economic advancing.
Ayatollah Khamenei cautioned the audience about the dangerous sickness of discord and division that enemies of Muslims are plotting to inject into the body of the Islamic umma, adding in the face of such a ploy the Islamic umma must not content itself with only chanting the slogan of Islamic unity, rather, it must pave the ground for unity in the world of Islam more than ever by adopting practical measures.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that decades-long problems and woes of the world of Islam, including the Palestinian issue and the Iraqi issues stem from Muslim divisions. The IR Leader urged drawing up a practical charter of unity approved by all sincere intellectuals, scholars and political elites of the world of Islam to provide the ground for unity.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that ideological and religious differences are of scholarly and jurisprudential nature and must not be let affect political and life realities of Muslims, adding at present the Islamic umma feels the pressure of America and its minions in its priorities of which the only way of relief is to hold fast all together by the rope that Allah stretches out for the faithful and to voice disgust at the regime of the United States of America as the greatest ever evil.
Ayatollah Khamenei underscored that faith in God must come in tandem with rejection of evil, adding now faith in God flows in many parts of the Islamic umma while unfortunately rejection of evil and standing up to the greatest evil is absent.
The IR Leader noted that resistance against evil will come about only through manifestation of capabilities and strength of the million strong population of Muslims by the intellectual and cultural leaders and elite figures of the world of Islam and though remaining unfazed with the superficial splendor of America and its cohorts.
"Imperialist powers, America in particular, feel awe over the progress of the Islamic countries in different fields as well as the growing power of Muslims; for the same reason they exert highest ever pressure over the nuclear issue to prevent scientific and technological advance of an Islamic country, even though they realize the Islamic Republic of Iran does not pursue nuclear weapon," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei vowed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has made its mind by using its past 27-year experience and achievements and will advance along its path regarding the nuclear issue as well as other problems it is facing, by relying on God, perseverance and making diligent efforts.
"Ana it will experience the sweet fruits of the move," the I.R. leader affirmed.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged the world ofIslam to redeem the damage and ignorance it sustained in the past by due palnning, prudence, foresight and firm resolve, adding the shining and honorable victory of the Lebanese Hezbollah over the Zionist regime stood as a final notice to all Muslims and proved that if the strength of Muslim population is trusted in the Islamic countries no power may endure challenging it.
Ayatollah Khamenei moreover said the outstanding performance of the late Imam Khomeini was discovering and trusting the power of people.
"Imam Khomeini by trusting the power of people managed to topple the evil royal regime and hoist the flag of Islam in the most sensitive point of the world of Islam in a country that once used to serve the interests of America and the Zionist regime," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
