Tehran, May 1 - Islamic Revolution Leader held meeting Monday with visiting Emir of Qatar, calling for further cooperation among Islamic countries.
His Eminence Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei told Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani that Iran and Qatar must broaden their mutual ties more than ever, because proximity of regional countries proves beneficial for their bilateral ties and also for the whole region and the world of Islam.
Islamic Revolution Leader considered regional reserves of oil and gas as the artery of Western world industrial civilization, noting that Westerners themselves once achieved scientific advance by using Muslims' natural resources, but now they exploit their scientific strength to exert pressure and supremacy over Islamic governments.
Honorable Ayatollah Khamenei placed dire emphasis on relations and cooperation among Islamic countries, adding that this proximity and cooperation among regional countries have been facing some ill-wishers whose chief elements are America and the Zionist regime.
The IR Leader pointed to large efforts of enemies of Iran's Islamic Revolution early on its time of victory to incite skepticism and hostility among regional countries towards Iran, saying that despite enemy efforts to provoke milieu of pessimism at that time, the milieu no longer exists and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate with all regional countries whereas the countries well identify their foes or friends.
In the meeting, also attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani expressed pleasure with his trip to Iran and his meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei, asserting that expansion of ties with Islamic and regional countries, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran, is a principle policy of the Qatar government.
He termed positive his talks in Tehran, adding that "we (Qatar government) too believe that Islamic countries must expand their cooperation and utilize their natural and human resources to consolidate their scientific, economic and hygiene infrastructures and foster their capabilities.
