Speaking at the meeting, the Leader described scientific progress as the secret of full-scale development of nations in various arenas, and he called on relevant organizations to try to promote basic sciences, which constitute the foundation of scientific progress, in the country.

"Basic sciences should be promoted in the country in such a manner that the learning of sciences like physics, chemistry and mathematics will become a general practice. This will enable us to accelerate our advancement toward scientific peaks through innovation and creativity," the Leader told the audience.

Ayatollah Khamenei further stated that the attempts made by certain powers to monopolize science are doomed to failure. He also noted that there are bright prospects for scientific activities motivated by commitment and dedication in the country.

"Iranians are a very talented nation and, as they have shown in various scientific arenas, they are able to reach the high summits of scientific progress. This same reality can lay the foundation for our country's genuine development," Ayatollah Khamenei remarked.

Before the Leader's statements, TCBPO director presented a report on the country's scientific capabilities and the bureau's future research projects.
