Tehran, Jan 19 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said Thursday that if the divine prophetic wisdom were implemented on naming the successor for the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), the mankind history would undoubtedly have taken another course and there were not so many miseries and problems facing the nations worldwide.
Addressing a gathering of officials, professors and students of the Imam Sadeq (AS) University, the Supreme Leader congratulated the auspicious occasion of Eide Qadir to all Shiites across the world.
The Leader described Qadir in which the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) chose his cousin Ali (AS) as his successor as a proper way to put an end into the man's historical sufferings including discrimination, injustice and poverty.
If the divine miracle of the prophet (PBUH) to create an Islamic society in the darkest period of mankind history was transferred from generation to generation by the infallible and developed further, today the man was not entangled with his historical s ufferings and basic needs and now have lived in a beautiful and superior world, the Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei said Islam attaches great importance to science and requires all students and academics to reach the highest peaks of science.
The Supreme Leader called scientific dominance as a base for economic, political and cultural capabilities.
Referring to the political abuse of the arrogant powers of their scientific superiority, the Leader said explanation of the true word of the Iranian people and realization of the ideals of the Islamic Revolution needs scientific sovereignty more than any thing else.
"Academics and students have duty to do their best to fill the huge gap exists between our country and the scientifically advanced societies", the Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei called alienation to the Western sciences as the root for some backwardness and said scientific research should be conducted in a freedom of thought.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the efforts for upgrading the humanities and hard science should be based on the vast intellectual legacies of Islamic and Iranian cultures.
The lack of a right combination of religion and science has created a vacuum in the human societies, the Leader noted.
The Islamic university teaches the most advanced sciences and through combination science and spirituality defines the practical aspect of science and offers a proper model to the human societies, the Supreme Leader said.
The Leader added that the Imam Sadeq (AS) University should set an example of Islamic university.
Ayatollah Khamenei criticized those suggestions which superficially judge the students and their behaviors as the basic signs of Islamic University saying Islamic University means a highly motivated, determined and futuristic body.
The main function of Imam Sadeq (AS) University is offering the pure Islam in a proper scientific way which will block the accusation of petrifaction against Islam, the Leader said.
The university, the Supreme Leader noted, should become a reference for the world scientific and research centers and train faithful experts for the various branches of the humanities.
