1. On Saturday, March 29, 2025, they will start looking for the crescent in those parts of Africa, Europe, West Asia and North/South America that the first of March 2025 was proved to be the first of Ramadan through valid ways as per shar‘. If they succeed in sighting the crescent, Sunday will be the first of their Shawwal.
2. If Monday, March 31, 2025, is declared as the first day of Shawwal and the auspicious day of Eid of Fitr in Iran, the following countries and regions will follow this announcement as they will have the same / a better situation as far as possibility of sighting the crescent is concerned:
West Asian countries, central and western parts of Turkmenistan, western Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, the republics of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Nakhchivan, and all parts of Europe.
Africa (including North African countries) except for Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, Angola, southeastern Ethiopia, the central and southern parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as countries located south of the aforementioned countries.
North and Central America, South America except for Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, and the southern parts of Brazil and Bolivia.
3. Crescent sighting experts unanimously say that the Shawwal crescent will be visible only in the western or central parts of the following three countries: Canada, the United States and Mexico at sunset on Saturday, March 29. However, on Sunday, March 30, the crescent will be visible all over the world, and in New Zealand and South Australia, it will be visible before sunset.
4. According to experts, you cannot say for sure that in Canada the crescent can be seen on Saturday for areas located in or east of Nunavut and eastern Manitoba, but it will be possible to see it in southwestern Manitoba.
In the eastern states of the United States and the states of Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana, there is no certainty of sighting on Saturday.
The same is true for the states of Mexico located east of the following states: Jalisco, Zacatecas, and Nuevo Leon.
