The esteemed Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Imam Khamenei, conveyed his condolences to the scholars and seminaries of Pakistan following the passing away of the revered scholar Hojatoleslam wal-Muslimeen Haj Sheikh Mohsen Ali Najafi. The text of the Leader's message is as follows:

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Indeed, from Allah we Come, and to Him do we Return

The news of the passing away of the esteemed and revered scholar, the late Hujjatulislam wal-Muslimeen Haj Sheikh Muhsin Ali Najafi, has brought profound sorrow and regret.

I extend my condolences to the scholars and seminaries of Pakistan, to his family and friends, and especially to the honourable Shia community of Baltistan on the loss of this respected scholar. May God, in His mercy, grant this noble scholar all-embracing forgiveness and elevated ranks. For the bereaved, I pray for their patience and reward.

May the peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you all.

Ayatollah Mohsen Ali Najafi was a prominent scholar and interpreter of Shia Islam in Pakistan. He studied in Najaf under the guidance of such esteemed teachers as the late Ayatollah Khoei and Martyr Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir Sadr. He founded the "Jamia Ahlul Bayt" and "Jamia Al-Kauthar" seminaries and was the head of the Supreme Council of the Ahlul Bayt Assembly in Pakistan. He also played a key role in establishing an exemplary educational system and several private colleges in the country.
