Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met with Mr Ziad Al-Nakhalah, the Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement (PIJ), and the accompanying delegation on Wednesday afternoon. He congratulated the PIJ for its victory over the Zionist regime in the latest battle in the Gaza Strip, saying that the Zionist entity is in a very different position today than it was seventy years ago. He stressed, "The Zionist enemy has lost the initiative and is simply reacting to events. This passivity indicates that resistance movements, including the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, are on the right path and are proceeding with wisdom."  
Referring to the fact that achieving lofty goals and performing great deeds are not possible without risking life and limb, he said that "Today, with the blessing of God, the power and credibility of the Palestinian resistance groups, including the PIJ, is rising by the day, and the latest defeat that the Zionist regime suffered at the hands of Palestinians in the Five-Day War is proof of that." 
He pointed out, "In the recent round of battles in the Gaza Strip, the PIJ has fared well, and that the situation for the Zionist regime has changed compared to seventy years ago. Hence, the leaders of the Zionist regime are rightly worried that they might not see the eightieth birthday of their regime."
Emphasizing the fact that the PIJ and other Palestinian resistance groups have found the key to fighting the Zionist regime, he added that "The rising power of the resistance movement in the West Bank is central to bringing the Zionist enemy to its knees and that these groups must maintain their present course." 
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that he appreciated efforts made by Palestinian Islamic groups to act in unison politically and on the field because it was of critical importance. He also stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran and its people would continue supporting Palestinian militant groups.
In this meeting, Mr Ziad  Al-Nakhalah, the Secretary General of the PIJ, expressed his gratitude for the constant support that the Islamic Republic of  Iran had provided to the Palestinian People in their struggle against the Zionist regime. He also updated Ayatollah Khamenei on recent developments in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, particularly the defeat suffered by the Zionist enemy in the Five-Day War, the conditions in the West Bank, and how the resistance movement had the upper hand in this region. He stated, "The Islamic Jihad has prevailed in the Gaza War, and, hopefully, we will soon witness ultimate victory and the liberation of Quds."
