The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution issued a message of condolence on the departure of the divine scholar Mr Haj Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Ali Alawi Gorgani from this world.

The entire message is as follows:

In the name of God to the most compassionate, the most merciful

I extend my condolences on the departure of the pious scholar, Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Ali Alawi Gorgani, to the Hawza Ilmiyya of Qom, his students, followers and especially to the faithful people of Golestan Province who have a deep respect for him and his late honourable father, Ayatollah Sayyid Sajjad Alawi Gorgani. I significantly extend my condolences to his noble family and esteemed children.

This grand Marja always remained faithful to the people and the Islamic Republic on various occurrences related to the Revolution and the country. He delivered treasured services, a God willing source of divine grace and mercy. I ask God Almighty to elevate his status and resurrect him with his pure ancestors [on the Day of Resurrection].
