The Discount Received by a Purchasing Officer
Question1: If the purchasing agent buys some commodity for his company and gets a discount from the seller, can he consider the discount for himself and announce the price without discount to the company?
Answer: The amount of discount belongs to the company and the purchasing agent cannot charge the company more than the amount he paid.
 
Jabīrah Wuḍū’ and Ghusl due to an Obstacle/Patch
Question2: I use glue a lot. Most of the time my hands and feet are stained with glue and it is difficult to remove it. What is my duty for wuḍū’ and ghusl?
Answer: In any case, if it is possible to remove it, you should remove the obstacle. But if the time is too short to remove it and say your prayer on time, you must make tayammum. If it is not possible to remove the obstacle, wipe on it with the wet hand for wuḍū’ or ghusl.
 
Khums on a House That You Need
Question3: A person has got a house which he needs but cannot live in it, or has rented it out for a while. Later, he decides not to live in it and sells it. Assuming that during this period, his new khums year starts, what is the ruling on its khums?
Answer: Residing in it is not a condition. The mere fact that it is needed and is compatible with his station makes the house be considered as ma’ūnah after start of his new khums year. Therefore, it is not subject to khums, even after selling it [in the next khums year].
 
To See a Doctor of Opposite Sex
Question4: Is it permissible for a woman to refer to a male doctor for a cosmetic operation?
Answer: Cosmetic surgery is not considered a cure for the disease, and it is not permissible to have a ḥarām look or to touch a non-maḥram for it, except in cases where it is for the treatment of a disease, such as burns, and it is very difficult for her to see a female specialist doctor.
 
Guiding an Uninformed Person
Question5: If the worshiper says the prayer incorrectly, is it necessary to inform him after the prayer?
Answer: If, due to not knowing the rule, he makes a mistake in performing the act, it is obligatory to inform him, otherwise it is not obligatory.
 
In Vitro Fertilization
Question6: Is in vitro fertilization (IVF) permissible? Who are the parents for the child born in this way?
Answer: There is no problem in it by itself. However, forbidden preliminaries such as forbidden looking and touching and the like should be avoided. By the way, the born child belongs to the genetic parents. There is a problem in referring the baby to the surrogate mother. Therefore, they should observe caution insofar as the shar‘ī rules governing lineage are concerned.
 
To Forbid Evil
Question7: What is the duty of the teacher and students towards some students who come to the class with inappropriate clothes?
Answer: If the conditions exist, they should enjoin the good and forbid the evil. However, if they are sure that it is not effective, they have no duty.
 
To Forget the Āyāt Prayer
Question8: A person forgets to say the āyāt prayer or only after an earthquake, or the like, he comes to know that it has happened. Is it obligatory for him to offer the āyāt prayer?
Answer: Answer: If he is informed of the event - except for a solar/lunar eclipse – when they occur but does not offer the āyāt prayer - although due to forgetfulness, he must perform the prayer.
However, if he is not informed in time and comes to know about it only after its occurrence, he must perform the āyāt prayer by obligatory caution.
 
The Requirements for the Imam of Congregation
Question9: What are The requirements for the imam of congregation?
Answer: The Imam of congregation must be sane, just, a Twelver Shiite, legitimate, mature (as a caution), to perform the prayer correctly, and if the congregant is a man, the imam must also be a man.
 
Sajdah on a Clay [Turbah] with Engravings
Question10: Is it wrong to prostrate on the engravings of a clay [turbah]?
Answer: There is no problem if the area of forehead contact with the turbah is not less than the area of a finger's tip.
 
Wuḍū’/Ghusl after Hair Implantation
Question11: Is implanted hair considered as an obstacle for wuḍū’/ghusl?
Answer: Unless it prevents water from reaching [the parts to be washed] in ghusl, or prevents the moisture from reaching the scalp and hair to the extent obligatory to be wiped in wuḍū’, there is no problem.
