Q.| If my work requires me to travel to a place where I am uncertain of exactly how long I will stay for my work, what is the rule regarding my fasting and my prayers?
A.| If you are uncertain as to whether your stay will exceed ten days, you are a traveler from the canonic standpoint, and as such fasting is invalid for you and your four-segment canonic prayer are reduced to two segments, unless you remain in this state of uncertainty for thirty days, in which case as of day thirty-one of your stay, your four-segment canonic prayers are restored to full length and you are obligated to fast during the month of Ramadan, even if you do not intend to stay there for another ten days.
