According to Islamic canon, sunlight is capable of purifying the ground, trees, plants, buildings, and all things deemed to be part of the structure of a building—such as doors, windows, walls, and columns—if they have been sullied by a canonic impurity, provided that (1) the canonically impure substance (ʻayn najāsah) is no longer present, (2) they are initially wet, and (3) they are dried as the result of being exposed to sunlight.
