On the first day of the blessed fasting month of Ramadan, the month in which the holy Quran was revealed, a ceremony of intimacy with the holy Quran was held in the presence of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
During the June 7 event, which lasted more than three hours, eight memorizers, reciters and teachers of the holy Quran from across Iran recited verses from the holy book. Religious choir in praise of Almighty God was also performed.
Addressing the ceremony, Ayatollah Khamenei described the beauty of Quranic words as a miracle and a window into its lofty and substantive concepts. Stressing the need for promoting Quranic gatherings across the country, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution highlighted Quranic concepts as a requirement for mundane life, saying: “If substantive Quranic words are expressed in simple terms for human beings, they will definitely be highly influential and will lay the groundwork for the genuine progress of humanity because dignity, strength, material welfare, spiritual exaltation, spread of thought and belief, as well as spiritual joy and serenity are tied to practicing Quran’s advice.”
Ayatollah Khamenei started his remarks by commemorating those reciters of Quran and pilgrims who lost their lives during last year’s ritual in the Mina disaster. Expressing happiness with the expansion of the circle of followers of Quran, particularly youths, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: “Although the beauty and attractiveness of Quranic words are a miracle, the objective behind these beautiful words is to open a window into the blessed and glorious environment of Quranic concepts.”
“If Quranic concepts are listened to wholeheartedly, the depth of Quranic concepts and their influence will be understood further in the current complicated and turbulent world which is fraught with challenges,” said the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the Quranic gatherings held in Iran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution are incomparably more numerous than those held before the Revolution and even than those held during the early years following the Revolution, adding: “One necessary task in the country is to spread gatherings of ‘recitation of and listening to’ Quran.”
“As mourning or festivity is held for the Household of the Prophet [Muhammad], Peace be Upon Them, Quranic forums must also be promoted so that, Quranic concepts and teachings will spread rapidly,” said Ayatollah Khamenei.
Referring to the void of identity, intellectuality and faith in today’s world and humanity’s need for Quranic teachings, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: “By strengthening the pillars of our faith and familiarity with the language of transmission of Quranic teachings to humans, we should spread these concepts across the globe.”
“If these concepts are spread, Quran will be the main influential [instrument] in the world and [world] powers and their weapons and the Zionist regime [of Israel] will not dare do any harm,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to mundane and spiritual serenity as a blessing of familiarity with Quranic concepts, saying: “Such serenity will clear the way for mankind’s greater faith in Almighty God and divine power.”
